Synthesis, Characterization, and Photocatalytic Investigation of CuFe2O4 for the Degradation of Dyes under Visible Light

The CuFe2O4 photocatalysts were synthesized by the solution combustion synthesis method, followed heat treatment at a temperature range of 400 to 1100 °C. Later, they characterized for application in photodegradation synthetic dyes under visible radiation. X-ray diffraction results showed presence cubic and tetragonal phases secondary Fe2O3 CuO, low temperatures. infrared spectrum profile confirms formation pointed out XRD. For most specimens, scanning electron microscopy examination revealed morphology similar porous flakes quasi-spherical shape. On other hand, samples heat-treated °C displayed plate-like morphology. specimens’ band gap ranged from 1.49 1.58 eV, indicating that material is semiconductor. Regarding photocatalytic efficiency, better activity when irradiation was used over green malachite rhodamine B dyes. degradation rates on first former 56.60% 84.30%, respectively.
